Her latest book Some Glad Morning\, Pitt Poetry Series was Longlisted for the Julie Suk Award from Jacar Press.  Her previous collection\, The Book of Kells\, won 2019 Best Book of Poetry from Poetry by the Sea. Her poetry has been read on the BBC\, ABC (Australian Broadcasting Company)\, by Garrison Keillor on The Writer’s Almanac\, by US Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith on The Slowdown podcast\, and in Ted Kooser’s column\, An American Life in Poetry \nOur Jacklyn Potter Young Poets this year for the first time are from outside the Washington\, DC area. Julien Berman\, who ran the competition this year\, won the JPYPC last year. He attends Georgetown Day School in Washington\, DC. \nPhoebe Price\, winner of the Jacklyn Potter Young Poets Competition\, is a high school junior at Sonoma Academy\, Santa Rosa\, California. She is a slam poetry competitor in the San Francisco Bay Area\, and Editor-in-Chief of her school’s literary journal. Her poetry has appeared in Canvas Literary Journal and has received national awards in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards and the Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest. \nLauren Young\, winner of the Jacklyn Potter Young Poets Competition\, is a senior at Trinity Catholic High School\, Stamford\, Connecticut. Her writing has been recognized by Scholastic Writing Awards\, Connecticut Letters about Literature\, and American High School Poets (Just Poetry!!!). \n

His poetry has been published in several university and literary journals\, and in a collection\, Smoke in the Afterlife.  An avid screenwriter\, Emilio has authored several independent films and short films.   His stage plays have been produced in the United States and United Kingdom. \nTerri Merz was the co-founder/co-owner of Chapters Literary Bookstore for its 22 years in operation. She was a 2013 – 2014 Lannan Fellow at G.U.’s Center for Poetics and Social Practice\, and also awarded a D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities Individual Artist Fellowship. She graduated in May 2019 from G.U. with an M.A. in Liberal Studies\, in the discipline of Literature and Society.
